Critical Incident Debrief

I am trained to carry out critical incident debrief for employers who may wish to support their staff following a critical incident, for example a death, redundancy, an attack, distressing content of work.  

These events can lead to psychological impacts on employees which can in turn impact their ability to function to their full potential at work.  The aim of a critical incident debrief is to meet with employees affected 24-72 hours after the incident to minimise the psychological impact.


For both the counselling and the Critical Incident Debrief services I can take referrals directly from:

  • individuals directly
  • Employee Assistance Programs
  • Occupational Health providers
  • Insurers
  • GPs
  • Anxiety UK

What is counselling?

The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy describes counselling as:

...time set aside by you and the counsellor to look at what has brought you to therapy.  This might include talking about life events (past and present), feelings, emotions, relationships, ways of thinking and patterns of behaviour.  The counsellor will do their best to help you to look at your issues and to identify the right course of action for you, either to help you resolve your difficulties or to help you find ways of coping...

Having trained in the humanistic approaches to counselling I have a strong grounding in the person-centred approach.  This means that I will work with you in a non-directive manner, I will work with you to help you to find them the solution to your issues for yourself.

The integrative aspect of my counselling means that I will sometimes draw upon methods from other approaches if I feel this would benefit you.  I also highly value the benefit that creative writing can have therapeutically.  Writing a journal, unsent letters, poetry and stories, whether written by ourselves or others, can be incredibly useful in uncovering and releasing trapped emotions.

I truly believe that everyone has it within themselves to grow and change, no matter their life circumstances.  Together we will create a confidential, warm, empathic and non-judgemental space in which you can work towards achieving your aims and becoming the person you want to be.


I offer appointments on Mondays between the hours of 9.30am to 3:00pm.  

Initially I suggest we work together for 6 sessions (though if you need less that's fine too).  It may be that short term sessions will be sufficient for you or we may decide together that the presenting issue requires longer term counselling.  I can work flexibly to suit you.
